Desktop as a Service

Desktop as a Service (Daas) is what we’re about at CloudSmartIT.

You may have heard about DaaS through a different name. In its day, it’s been called “Infrastructure as a Service (IAS),” as well as “Virtual Desktop Infrastructure as a Service (VDI).” Different names, same service. Indeed, it’s a revolutionary, comprehensive service, and at CloudSmartIT, it’s our speciality.

What Is DaaS?

Think about the technology related challenges that you face on weekly basis. Software. Hardware. Accessibility. Flexibility. Security. Sustainability. Efficiency. The list goes on.

Now, imagine a world without these problems.

Well, at CloudSmartIT, that’s the world that we live in, and you’re invited to join us here! The first step is DaaS.

DaaS takes everything that you have stored on your company’s computers and servers, and does 2 things with it:

  1. Moves it to a more secure location, managed by seasoned IT professionals
  2. Allows you easy, flexible access to it, whenever and wherever you want

How Does DaaS Work?

When you use DaaS, all of your data, software, and everything that you would normally access through your desktop computers is moved to highly secure data centers, jointly managed by CloudSmartIT and Microsoft. Once this migration is complete, you will still be able to work in all the same ways you are used to, but with one key difference: your workstation would be virtual.

“Virtual” means that the only thing you need in order to access your workstation is internet connection. You’ll still be working off of your desktop like you’ve always known it… but you will access that desktop online.

We understand that talking about ALL of your data can be scary. It’s completely understandable to feel a degree of discomfort at first when dealing new technologies. Well, rest assured that the cloud is 100% risk-free. And if you’re still apprehensive, you can make the transition at your own pace.

You Don’t Have To Migrate Your Data All At Once

You are free to migrate your data in phases. For example, you might begin by migrating only your emails to the cloud. If this goes well (which it definitely will), then you can move on to phase 2 as soon as your feel ready to do so.

You’re the boss. You set the pace!

You Don’t Have To Erase Your Current Hard Drive Afterwards

Once the data migration is complete and you’re officially “on the cloud,” you are not obligated to wipe your hard drive clean. In some cases, we might advise you to do this, but you are free to retain a physical backup of your data forever.

Again, you’re the boss.

And, If You’re Unsatisfied, You Don’t Have To Stay With Us

We feel pretty confident that you’ll be more than satisfied with our service. However, on the off chance that we’re wrong, you will be able to switch to another cloud service provider quickly, and at no risk.

You’re the boss. You decide.

How Does DaaS Help You?

Microsoft Partner LogoThere’s more to DaaS than meets the eye. We’ll start with a few of DaaS’s most fundamental features, and branch out from there.

Basic Features of DaaS:

  • Anti-Virus
  • Encryption
  • Cloud Faxing
  • Document Scanning
  • Backup
  • Cloud Networking
  • Remote App
  • 24/7 Security Monitoring

Now, we know that a few of these features may require some additional explanation. Here are a few areas where we’d like to expand. Of course, if you have any additional questions, do not hesitate to get in touch and ask us!

Remote App

As the name suggests, Remote App allows you to access important applications and software remotely. For example, if you are using DaaS, and your business depends heavily on QuickBooks, we can put that software in the cloud for you. This means that you will be able to access and work in QuickBooks from computers that have not actually been installed with this software. As long as you have internet, you will also have access to programs like QuickBooks. As you can imagine, this opens up a whole new world of flexibility, efficiency, and opportunities for working remotely.

Cloud Faxing

What is cloud faxing? It’s basically a fax machine, but without the actual, physical fax machine. Beyond that, it has basically the same function. However, its ability to perform that function is substantially augmented by the efficiency and reliability of modern cloud services.

Backup & Disaster Recovery

Switching to the cloud allows for virtually infinite back ups to be made. It’s also worth noting that each of these backups will be kept more secure than you would ever have been able to do yourself. Why? Because the cloud is managed by IT professionals like us. This is our strong suit.

And think about the risks involved in physically storing your servers in your office. Theft! Flooding! Fire! Etc! These are all things that could send you back to square 1. But if you’ve backed up your data with the cloud, recovering from these types of disasters will be quick and painless.

And There’s More…

At CloudSmartIT, DaaS is our specialty. However, there are a host of other services that go hand in hand with this that we also offer. These services include…

What Does DaaS Cost?

Many of our competitors charge a flat fee for cloud service. These fees tend to correspond to a 24/7 level of service, and we have a problem with that.

DaaS is all about flexibility, and we believe that a fair pricing scheme should reflect that. That’s why, when you choose SmartCloudIT, you only pay for what you use. Of course you have the option to have 24/7 cloud access, but if that isn’t something you need or want, we won’t charge you for it!

So, in summation, working with CloudSmartIT costs exactly what you want to pay. In order to give you an exact estimate, we will need to talk to you about your needs.
